Create an app that can help users struggling with mental health and overcome barriers like isolation and lack of motivation by providing tools for goal-setting, mood tracking, and find community.

01

Problem Statement

Users often face difficulty in maintaining motivation and consistency when it comes to mental health goals and self-care habits. Isolation and lack of accountability are significant barriers that hinder their progress.

02

User Data

Participants were recruited from social media and mental health forums, including 10 individuals with anxiety or depression and 5 control group participants aged 18-35. We conducted one-on-one interviews and a 15-question survey after two weeks of app prototype use for feedback.

Interview Questions

  • Have you used a mental health app/tool before?

  • What challenges do you face in maintaining a consistent mental health routine?

  • How do social connections impact your mental health journey?

  • What features are valuable in a mental health app for emotional well-being?

  • What data points are important for mood tracking?

  • How comfortable are you with sharing mental health data online?

  • What factors influence your trust in a mental health platform?

Survey Results

  • Tools for setting achievable goals.

  • Connection with others facing similar challenges.

  • Easy visualization of mood over time.

App Evaluation

The evaluation of the app prototype showed positive feedback:

  • 90% of users found the app easy to navigate.

  • 70% valued the community support features.

  • 50% desired more options for goal tracking and reminders.

Key Takeaways

The research highlighted the importance of peer support and accountability features. Users need robust, customizable goal-setting tools, and simplicity is crucial, especially during periods of low motivation

Result

User research was crucial for understanding the barriers and needs of our target audience. We prioritized simplicity in our design to ensure that users continue to engage with the app even during periods of low motivation. Graphing moods provides clear visibility of progress, helping users track their improvement over time. Additionally, creating a judgment-free community support platform fosters openness and encourages users to share and connect with others.
